An historian and author will be speaking about the history of Lancashire at a book launch.
Historian and author Dr Paul Salveson will present his new book 'Lancastrians, Mills, Mine and Minarets' on July 13 located at Bolton Museum at 1pm.
The book explores Lancashire people and their impact on Britain and beyond.
The history explores the cultural heritage and identity of Lancashire, stretching from the Mersey to the Lake District.
The book also explores contemporary Lancastrian culture, following modern upheavals and Lancashire’s fragmentation compared with its old rival Yorkshire.
It focuses on the question: What future awaits the six million people of this rich historic region?
Paul Salveson PhD, MBE is Visiting Professor at the universities of Bolton and Huddersfield. His academic career focussed on Lancashire dialect and literature; he later pioneered community railway projects across the UK.
His books include With Walt Whitman in Bolton and Northern Rail Heritage. He divides his time between Bolton and Grange-over-Sands.
At the event guest will delve into the rich cultural heritage and identity of Lancashire, with insights based on extensive research from Bolton’s archives.
The event is free, books will be available to buy and be signed on the day.
