Farnworth firefighters and new police recruits teamed up for an important training session.
The session was held at Farnworth Fire Station with officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to demonstrate early on in their training what is expected when they attend incidents together.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service say that this is to help not only build relationships, but to give the GMP recruits an input on what capability they have when it comes to staff skills and the equipment that may help them at an incident.
The session covered important joint working topics including protecting the scene, finding out who’s in charge of the incident, providing casualty dignity by managing the outer cordons and preventing public filming.
The fire service also ran a road traffic collision scenario for officers so they could see how they operate and put the theory into practice.
Farnworth Blue Watch Crew Manager Rami helped organise the event and he received some positive feedback from GMP’s student assessor’s unit, after the session.
He said: ‘’Thank you so much for today, the student officers were absolutely buzzing when they came back."
Crews at Farnworth Fire Station have previously held open days for the public to demonstrate their skills by staging a mock road traffic collision.
