Emergency services were called to Blackburn Road in the early hours of the morning after a car crashed into railings.
The call was made at around 2.50am after a traffic light was taken down in the incident.
Fire and police attended and the area was taped off for a short time.
The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa remained at the scene but a passenger reportedly left.
The fire service at Bolton North sent one unit to the scene which was there for around 45 minutes and police cordoned it off.
A fire service spokesperson said: "At 2.50am we went to Moss Bank Way at the junction with Blackburn Road near the Asda.
"A Vauxhall Corsa had crashed into the railings.
"There was damage to the traffic lights.
"The driver of the car was ok.
"One person left the scene, police are dealing with it.
"The police cordoned it off.
"We made the scene safe."
A car crashed into the railings earlier this month at the same spot.
There have been a number of accidents on the road in recent months.
