The future of Boots stores in Bolton town centre remains uncertain after the major retailer declined to comment on whether they are staying open or shutting.
There are three Boots stores in Bolton town centre in Crompton Place, Trinity Street, Market Place and one in Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Centre.
Boots announced this week it would close 300 stores across the country in the next year.
The store was approached on the future of the Bolton outlets.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We aren’t releasing details of affected stores at the moment, but will share further information on planned closures over the coming months.”
The store also stressed that there were no proposed job losses.
The spokesperson added: “There are no proposed redundancies – all impacted team members will be offered redeployment.
“This is part of ongoing reviews to ensure the company has the right stores and resources in the right locations that can be invested in significantly.
“It will allow Boots to concentrate resource and provide a reliable and consistently excellent service.
“The vast majority of closing stores, more than 85 per cent, are within 5 kilometres of another, with 82 per cent of people within the UK remaining within a 10-minute drive of a Boots store following this.”
All of the Bolton town centre stores meet this criteria, although bosses declined to comment on the future of the stores.
Crompton Place is earmarked for demolition under ambitious plans to regenerate the town centre.
Bolton town centre has been hit with other closures in recent months.
Clinton cards recently quit and Marks and Spencer also closed its store which was near the Crompton Place Boots store.
These reported closures have raised concerns over the future relationship between Boots and its owner Walgreens Boots Alliance.
James Kehoem, global chief financial officer at Walgreens said: "We will continue to optimise our locations and opening hours, and expect to close an additional 300 locations in the UK and 150 locations in the US."
Walgreens was supposed to sell the brand until an "unexpected and dramatic change" in the world financial markets reportedly disrupted a potential buyout.
With this new spate of closures, it is expected that the company will reduce its number of locations from 2200 stores to just 1900.
In previous years, the brand announced plans to close stores and pharmacies across the UK with many of these closures said to have primarily affected local pharmacies.
