A meeting is set to be held to address worries about “anti-social behaviour” in an area largely inhabited by retired people.
The meeting will be held at the Weavers Court complex this week after recurring complaints about people from elsewhere parking up and causing annoyances to elderly residents.
But Cllr Linda Thomas, who will be addressing the meeting, says she hopes this can lead on to wider discussions.
She said: “It’s really about respect and remembering that this issue about people parking up from outside the area may not be so much of a problem for younger people but for older people it can be a real cause of concern.”
The Weavers Court complex is found off Rothwell Street not far from Bolton town centre in the newly formed Queens Park and Central ward, which includes parts of what had previously been the Great Lever ward.
As well as the complex itself, the meeting will also be open to attendees from elsewhere in the nearby area who have also been affected by or concerned about crime and anti-social behaviour.
Earlier this year, a 21-year-old man was charged after a home on the complex was burgled on Christmas Day, while residents have also raised other concerns in recent months about crime and anti-social behaviour.
Cllr Thomas will be attending alongside her ward colleagues Cllr Akhtar Zaman and Cllr Richard Silvester, while representatives from the police and the council’s highways department will also be in attendance.

She said that they had been alerted to concerns about anti-social behaviour when campaigning in the last local election and that they now want to address people’s worries in more depth.
Cllr Thomas said: “We thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know some of the residents in our ward and see if we can work on a solution.
“Obviously its dependent on other factors like funding but we really want to be able to see how we can help people find solutions.”
The meeting will take place at the residents’ lounge on the Weavers Court complex, Rothwell Street at 6.30pm on Thursday, June 29.
