Bolton residents were warned to keep their doors and windows closed last night after a roof fire in Breightmet.
Five fire engines were called to Mobberley Road, at 11pm on Saturday after reports of a fire.
Crews used three jets, one hose reel and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire as well as a turntable ladder and a drone unit.
Whilst operations have been scaled back, firefighters and police remain at the scene.
Bolton North Watch Manager, Carl Gleaves, said: “We were called to reports of a roof fire at around 11pm last night on Mobberley Road.
“Five fire engines were used as well as a special turntable ladder appliance and a special scorpion appliance.
“We were at the scene until around 4am this morning.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly before 11.15pm yesterday (Saturday, June 24), fire crews were called to attend Mobberley Road, Bolton amid reports of a domestic building fire.

“Five fire engines from across Greater Manchester, the turntable ladder from Bolton Central fire station, and our drone unit arrived quickly on the scene and firefighters using three jets, one hose reel and four breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.
“Operations have been scaled back but firefighters remain at the scene at this time.”
