A new installation celebrating Horwich's railway history will form an eye-catching centre piece in a park, which will be unveiled next week.
The former buffers from the old Horwich Station, which closed in 1966, will be on show at Old Station Park in Horwich on Saturday, July 1.
The Mayor of Horwich, Cllr David Grant, will unveil the installation which were refurbished by local interest group Horwich Heritage, at 10am.
They were found buried in Old Station Park, the former site of the statoin and were uncovered amid work to create a flood basin in the area.
A buffer, or buffer stop, is the device which aims to prevent trains from going past the physical end section of a track.
Following refurbishment, they have been placed in the park to signify Horwiches railway heritage and to mark the old train station that operated where the park now sits.
