A woman has been sentenced after stealing close to £400 worth of items from three shops in Bolton.

Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court heard Lisa Phelps entered the Tesco store on Mansell Way in March this year and stole clothing, alcohol and a large boxed air fryer worth £230.

The next month she took cleaning products worth £10 from Heron Foods on Tonge Moore Road.

Later in April the 41-year-old went in to the Spar shop on New Lane and helped herself to four bottles of carpet cleaner, two packs of chicken and single packets of burgers, meatballs and ham worth £63.

In the same month she pocketed butter, cheese and gel worth £85, again from Heron Foods on Tonge Moore Road.

Phelps, of Pole Street, Bolton, admitted four counts of theft and was given a sentence of six months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.

The reason for the custodial sentence was her record of "numerous acquisitive offences".

She was placed on a drug treatment requirement meaning she must be supervised for nine months.

She was also ordered to do 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
