The much-anticipated Bolton News Careers Fair takes place on Thursday, June 29 from 10am – 4.30pm at Bolton Arena Sports Village, Arena Approach, Horwich.
Special Needs Under Fives Support (SNUFS) will be exhibiting at the fair, they are a charity based in Bolton supporting special needs children between the age of two and five across the borough, promoting the child’s inclusion into mainstream pre-school provision.
The service has provided volunteer support to communities in Bolton for 33 years, the support is carried out within pre-school settings working under the direction of the staff in the setting.
Now the charity is looking to increase its team of volunteers who presently as a whole provide 150 hours of volunteering per week.
Niki Wareing, Coordinator of SNUFS says: “SNUFS is recognised in Bolton as an important part of the network of support offered to pre-school settings”.
Volunteers come from a diverse background with varied amounts of experience ranging from students to retired members of the community. Becoming a member of the team gives experience being in a workplace and working with children which can help with finding employment in the future.
All volunteers are DBS checked, reference checked and must complete a Safeguarding online course before being offered a position. Training courses are offered to volunteers throughout the year in Early Years subjects.
A spokesman said: "We would love to hear from anybody who has a morning or afternoon free each week to support in their own local community. Volunteers must be fluent in spoken English.
"If you would like to find out more and are interested in volunteering with SNUFS please contact Niki Wareing – 01204 338211/niki@specialneedsu5.co.uk"
