Young people are bringing a hit musical to the stage in Bolton.

‘Madagascar the Musical’ is being performed by Walmsley Church Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society Amateur Kids Theatre.

Entitiled Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR, follows all the crack-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Audiences can join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo and of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto the stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime.

Directed by Lara Syddall and choreographed by Hannah Feakin, the shows promise to be filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and upbeat score, with Madagascar JR. leaving audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!”

Director Lara Syddall said: “Our children work so hard, and we have great inclusivity. Building their confidence and seeing how far they have come from the first rehearsal to the show is what I love about running this youth theatre.”

Assistant Director Lindsay Farnworth said: “Madagascar has been a fabulous, feel-good project for AKT.

“Following the plot of the well-known movie, it is full of humour and great music.

“Our youngsters have embraced the diverse animal characters with great aplomb.

“This is a young youth theatre production not to be missed.”

The show will be taking place each night at 7.30pm from June 29 to July 1, with a matinee on Saturday July 1 at 2.30pm.

Walmsley Church Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are an award-winning, self-funded group of enthusiasts, dedicated to providing quality theatrical entertainment.

The society produces three musical shows a year and have facilities for audiences and members including a 210-seat auditorium with raked seating for optimum viewing.
