St Ann’s Hospice is urging everyone to attend their Manchester Midnight Walk on Friday 9th June, with tickets available all week, on the day or even at the event.

The event returns to Manchester city centre on Friday 9th June, where hundreds will gather to walk 10km to raise money for the charity, based in Little Hulton.

Tom Everett is taking on the challenge again this year with his grandson, after completing the walk last year and loving it so much.

“Myself and my grandson Matthew, aged 17, are among the oldest and youngest of those taking part in this challenge for St Ann’s Hospice as I’m 81 years old.

“We have been supporting St Ann’s Hospice for a few years, since my wife Carol was cared for by the hospice. Carol died in 2021 from cancer aged 76, we had been married for 51 years. Carol wanted us to look after St Ann’s as they were so good to us all in the month she was there.

“Matthew and I really enjoyed the walk last year, so we’re excited to take part again although Matthew’s strides are double mine so he will need to slow down to stay with me!

“I would like to raise as much as I can to ensure the hospice helps more families like ours. Carol was a wonderful person and she was absolutely enthralled by the service she got there, so it’s important to us to help them in any way we can.”

Those participating in the Midnight Walk set off from Manchester Cathedral at midnight and pass many of the city’s iconic landmarks with music and DJ’s providing entertainment throughout.
