A family friendly fish and chips restaurant has reopened after a "devastating break-in" forced the owners to close their doors.
Curley's Dining Rooms on Wallsuches, off Chorley Old Road, temporarily closed on Monday, May 29.
Damage was caused to the tills and doors but no money was taken.
One of the owners, Steve Kershaw, says that this has never happened to the inside of the business in the 20 years it has been around.
Steve says that they have been “incredibly lucky” at the family business.
He said: “My initial reaction was one of devastation, not just over the damage and loss of business, but we have quite a lot of staff, and they all lost a days’ pay, while we were forced to close and repair the damage.
“It left us very disturbed after all the years.
“To have it broken into does affect you.
“We have been incredibly lucky.”
Steve says is also grateful and overwhelmed by all the messages of support the business received.
He said: “I want to say a huge thank you to the amount of people that left messages on social media and the amount of phone calls we got asking if we needed any help, it’s overwhelming.”
Steve added that despite the break in, the family-run business are happy to welcome their customers back, and "put this behind them".
He said: “We are happy to welcome our customers back and hopefully put this behind us.
“Hopefully the police are in the middle of the investigation and get some pathway with that.”
The award-winning diner is open from Monday to Thursday from 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-6pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9am-6pm.
Customers can enjoy a wide variety of food at the eatery, with separate menus including afternoon tea and a children’s menu.
Police have been approached for more information.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
