Police are on the case of a car cruise at the Trafford Centre last week.

GMP Traffic shared photos from an event in the car park of the shopping centre in a post on social media yesterday (May 30).

Police are in the process of pursuing the cars with a view to prosecuting the drivers, according to the post on social media.

It reads: "These images of dangerous drivers showing their moves are from last week's car cruise at the Trafford Centre.

"The vehicles are in the process of being traced and the drivers prosecuted #OpMarshall."

Operation Marshall is an initiative to tackle the criminality associated with car cruise events and its impact on the community. One of these car cruise events ended in tragedy in 2018 when Sophie Smith, a teenager from Bury, was hit by driver who lost control of his car and careered into a crowd of spectators on Europa Way in Trafford Park.

The driver, Scott Watkins, was imprisoned later in the same year for causing death by dangerous driving and a number of other driving offences.
