Officers have been out enforcing a 20mph speed limit outside a school after residents raised concerns.
A number of speeding motorists were stopped after the roadside checks.
Officers from the Bolton West Neighourhood team carried out the operation close to Rumworth School yesterday (Monday May 22).
A spokesperson for Bolton West said: “After concerns from local residents of speeding motorists, officers from the Bolton West Neighourhood team were in the area of Rumworth School today.
“A number of vehicles were stopped after being caught exceeding the 20mph speed limit.”
It comes as Greater Manchester Police were out in force in Bolton earlier this month where they recorded as many as 354 traffic offences, with 282 being related to speeding.
That exercised formed part of the Operation Avro crackdown which returned to the borough for a day of action against a number of crimes such as drug-dealing, traffic offences, and anti-social behaviour.
Operation Portman is currently running in Bolton and has led to hundreds of drivers stopped over the last couple of years for speeding, dangerous driving, or using a mobile phone.
Sgt Craig Wallace told The Bolton News recently: "Our officers work hard to keep Bolton's roads safe and we utilise all of the resources available to us to achieve that goal.
“Our ongoing Operation Portman has seen us stop hundreds of drivers over the last couple of years, whether that's for speeding, dangerous driving, or using a mobile phone.
"Our officers move around regularly and monitor roads which have been reported as speeding hotspots, and any intelligence we receive from the public is acted on appropriately.
“We also regularly liaise with partners to further enable us to keep the roads safe.
"If anyone has any particular concerns, they can attend one of our PACT meetings, where officers will be more than happy to have a conversation and provide advice on all matters."
