Staff have created a ‘friendly community’ for pupils to be part of and one in which they feel safe and happy.

Lever Edge Primary School was described as a good with outstanding features when visited recently by Ofsted.

And the headteacher has welcomed the result and described her pride at the "acheivement."

All areas of the Great Lever school were marked as good, with the early years provision described as outstanding.

The school was found to be good in terms of quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, leadership and management.

It was found to be outstanding in personal development of children.

Ofsted reported: “Leaders and staff are ambitious for all pupils to be successful.

“Pupils are resilient and work hard to meet the high expectations that leaders and staff have of them.

“They achieve well. Pupils are attentive and behave well in lessons.”

The curriculum is described as ambitious and effective.

And at the end of primary school “most pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education in these subjects”.

Ofsted stated: “Pupils regularly display good manners. They do their best to treat others in the same way that they would like to be treated themselves. They are courteous and lead by example. “Children in the early years are exceptionally well behaved.”

Inspectors added: “Pupils experience an exemplary range of opportunities that enhance their personal development.

“Pupils develop a deep and meaningful understanding of British values, such as democracy. They value the importance of treating everyone equally. Leaders ensure that pupils learn about the signs of healthy relationships. As a result, pupils are prepared well for life in modern Britain.”

The report also identified one area for improvement.

It said: "In a small number of subjects, leaders have not assured themselves that the curriculum is being delivered as intended.

"As a result, some pupils do not secure the subject-specific vocabulary that they need for future learning.

"They do not achieve as well as they should in these subjects.

"Leaders should ensure that teachers follow their guidance to deliver the curriculum as intended."

Headteacher Kelly James welcomed the findings.

She said: "As a school we are all extremely proud of our achievement within the new OFSTED framework especially considering the time since our previous inspection and the significant changes within the education system.
"Our pupils are amazing citizens of the future, their behaviour is truly impeccable and their attainment and progress throughout their learning journey from Nursery to Year Six, continues to be exceptional.
"All staff at Lever Edge work incredibly hard to provide an inclusive and nurturing learning environment, where pupils succeed, and deserve the highest praise for their dedication.

"We are pleased this has been recognised within the report and further reflected by having received "outstanding" for areas of both personal
development and early years provision."
