A man has admitted kidnapping a child and causing grievous bodily harm in Bolton.
Martin Enow, aged 24, of Moor Lane, Preston, appeared at Bolton Crown Court yesterday, Monday, May 22.
The court heard how on February 21 this year, Enow ‘unlawfully took or carried away’ a child against their will and ‘maliciously inflicted harm’ upon the child on Mayor Street.
Appearing via video link from prison, dressed in a grey sweatshirt, Enow pleaded guilty to two charges.
The first charge was of kidnapping and the second was of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Defence barrister Mark Friend said: “At the time of the offences, the defendant was undergoing a mental health crisis.”
Addressing the defendant, Judge Tom Gilbart said: “You have pleaded guilty in relation to these matters. They are obviously serious matters.
“You are going to be sentenced on June 29. I am going to order a pre-sentence report from the probation service to assess whether you’re a dangerous offender.
“As you know, these are serious matters and I will be considering immediate custody.”
The judge ordered Enow to remain in custody until the court date.
Judge Gilbart set the sentencing date for Thursday, June 29.
