A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering after a six-figure sum was seized by police on the M61.
Chorley Police officers have arrested a man after they discovered a six-figure sum of cash in a car that had been pulled over on the M61 yesterday, Thursday, May 18.
Officers said they stopped the Nissan Juke near Botany Bay just before 1pm.
A large quantity of cash was found in the car and a man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
He was interviewed and has since been released on conditional bail while further enquiries take place.
Officers have since released images of bundles of £50 notes inside plastic bags.
A Chorley Police spokesperson said: "A six-figure sum of cash was seized when our officers stopped a car on the M61 yesterday (May 18).
"We stopped the Nissan Juke near to Botany Bay just before 1pm.
"The large quantity of cash was found in the vehicle and a 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
"He was interviewed and has since been released on conditional bail while further enquiries take place."
