A carers support group from Bolton had a "royal" time earlier this month as they attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
Last summer the effort and commitment of Bolton Carers Support volunteers was recognised as the service was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which is now known as the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is a national award that honours the role volunteers play in the organisation and the direction and delivery of its services.
It is the equivalent of an MBE.

And as part of this award, two volunteers were asked to represent the organisation at the King’s Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday May 9.
Harry Mistry and Ayleen Benischke both volunteer as trustees on Bolton Carers Support’s management committee and also give up their town time in other ways for the organisation.
They were delighted to be chosen to attend the party to represent the many volunteers within the organisation who dedicate their time to support Bolton carers.
Speaking about the day, Harry said: “It was an honour attending the garden party at Buckingham Palace on behalf of Bolton Carers Support to celebrate and recognise the incredible work it undertakes supporting those who selflessly care for their loved ones.
“It was a truly unforgettable experience, but more importantly, it reminded me of the crucial work that carers do every day.
“They are the unsung heroes of our communities, and the charity does an amazing job of providing support and resources to help them in their role.
“I felt a sense of pride and achievement of being part of an organisation that received such a prestigious award, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, including the hardworking volunteers and workers who dedicate themselves to helping carers every day."
Ayleen added: “It was truly an honour and a huge privilege to represent such a wonderful team of volunteers and an amazing team of staff members without whom we could not volunteer so successfully.”
