A big band from Bolton will play a night of music later this week.
The Ron Hayes Big Band will play a night of classic big band music at Walkden Legion Club on Thursday night.
They will play music from classic acts such as Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, with special arrangements by Leeds College of Music legend Ronnie Bottomley featuring multi instrumentalist Al Wood, from 8.15pm.
Al Wood has been a permanent member of the Northern Radio Orchestra, the Maynard Ferguson Big Band, and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and played alto, tenor saxophones, trumpet and trombone in all three.
Ronnie Bottomley taught at Leeds Music college for thirty years and was a first call for backing touring jazz artists for more than 40 years, and worked for Matt Munro, Olivia Newton-John, Tommy Steele, The Drifters, Gene Pitney, Howard Keel and Marion Montgomery.
Admission will be £6 each, which includes a raffle ticket.
