A Bolton family and choir are holding a concert in memory of a “perfect baby boy” who died at just over an hour old.

Shannon Lomax, from Breightmet, previously shared the painful experience of losing her son with The Bolton News last month.

At around 8.30 am on Saturday, March 25, Shannon said that her waters broke due to an unknown infection, and she stayed at the Royal Bolton Hospital where they gave her some antibiotics.

Shannon was due to be discharged on Monday, March 27 when Joshua Brian Brindle was born.

But tragically he died due to extreme prematurity.

And after reading the article, the choir director of The Eden Singers, Adrian Yapp, was inspired to organise a fundraiser to raise funds for a cuddle cot.

The cuddle cot will allow families to have extra time to grieve the loss of their child, allowing the baby to remain with the family for a couple of days whilst keeping the baby cool.

Shannon said: “It was really good they offered to organise a concert because we want to be able to raise money to keep Joshua’s memory alive, because there has been a massive hole in our lives.

“It means a lot to us and to a lot of other families going through this.”

Shannon says that the cuddle cot would either be donated to the Royal Bolton Hospital or a local funeral home.

Adrian said: “I have experienced something similar with a very close friend who was a drama teacher, and who raised money for organisations.

“It’s something very close to my heart.

“I think it was heart rendering for her to go through the loss of a child.

“It is something to give families comfort in the short days they have with their child.

“We have raised £50k for local charities in and around Bolton, through putting concerts on.”

All proceeds made from the concert will go towards the cuddle cot.

It will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 7.30pm at Christ Church, Little Lever.
