A woman who had her garden wall driven into and smashed for a sixth time is calling for barriers to be installed outside her Bromley Cross home.

A vehicle went into the wall on Haydock Lane on Friday morning at 3am.

The house is located on a junction in the road near Hospital Road and Kibble Brow where there is a bend in the road.

The remains of the wall are scattered over the front garden.

Homeowner Jannette Brown called for measures to be put in place to stop this from happening again and expressed frustration her property had been damaged once more.

She said: "It is the sixth time in 17 years that this has happened.

"The previous time it was a drink driver.

"They come around the bend and they don't know the road.

"The council says crash barriers are too expensive but I have looked online and they are £20."

The Bolton News: The wall was smashed in the crash

The 63-year-old retired woman added: "It's time the council listened to us and put some kind of traffic calming in place.

"Last time, they drew a few white lines on the road. And guess what? It didn't stop it happening again.

"It costs us £1,000 every time.

"It will happen again.

"The last time it happened they nearly crashed into a dog walker, sooner or later someone is going to lose their life."

A spokesperson for Bolton Council said about the previous crash in February last year: "We are aware of a recent crash at the junction of Hospital Road, Kibble Brow and Haydock Lane.

"We understand the concern that incidents like this can cause the local community.

"Over the years, a number of traffic calming measures have been suggested for this area, but these have to be considered alongside feasibility and affordability."
