These events included a crown making session and a screening of the Coronation.
Oliver Anderson, aged 4, made one of the crowns, with the help of his mum, Jodie Anderson.
Jodie said: "We wanted to come to the museum and we saw the crafts, which is Oliver's favourite thing.
"We have also been making cakes this morning at home."
Oliver said that his favourite part was sticking the jewels on the crown.
Residents in Riding Gate Mews, Bradshaw, held a street party.
Riding Gate Mews resident Naomi Ainscough-Durkin was one of its main organisers.
She said: "We're a lovely community around here, everyone knows everyone, and there are lots of children."
She added: "It's just lovely for us all to get together and really have a nice day together. It's something the children will always remember.
"They've watched it on TV and they get to play and celebrate.
"We've got a Whatsapp group going for the street, but for some of the elderly residents who don't have it, we sent a newsletter round."
Residents in Bradshaw Meadows enjoyed a traditional street party.
There were gazebos, games and even a bouncy castle.
Bradshaw Meadows resident, Paul Hamer, said: "We've all got together and invited extended families.
"It's brilliant, it's great to get out, like the Jubilee. It's great to get and enjoy it as a community, enjoy it with your neighbours."
Horwich RMI Social Club also held a Family Fun Day for the Coronation, complete with a bouncy castle, children’s entertainers, including Life’s Little Parties, party games, bubble blowing, ice cream and more to celebrate the occasion.
And there was also a crowning of a King and Queen.
Archie Bostock, aged 5, and Hollie Seddon, aged 8, were crowned King and Queen by Horwich town Mayor, Steven Chadwick.
Archie said his favourite part of the day was "playing on the bouncy castle", while Hollie enjoyed playing with her friends.
Committee member at the club and organiser, Margaret Seddon, said: “It’s been absolutely mad, but I’ve really enjoyed it.
“We’d like to express our thanks to all the parents and kids for making it such a fantastic event.”
Markland Hill Primary School celebrated yesterday (Friday, May 6) with a Coronation party, which included a picnic lunch, an outdoor parade and plenty other exciting activities.
Cllr John Walsh recalled the Queen's Coronation, saying: “I thought it was a very moving event. I remember being taken by my aunt to play with my cousin, I didn’t know why at the time, but I later realised it was for the Queen’s coronation.
“My mother was watching it on a nine-inch television screen. But to actually watch it, it proves just how well we do pageantry.”
He continued: “It is a shame about the weather, but I am sure people have enjoyed themselves. The true British spirit under gazebos and tents.
“I remember 20 years ago, for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, I was attending to a street party when it started pouring down as I was driving there.
“We weren’t sure if the party would continue and they didn’t think we were going to come.
“But in that true spirit, they had gazebos and marquees up, and we stood drinking champagne out of little plastic glasses in the pouring rain, which I’m sure many people have done today.”
Among the parties taking place from tomorrow include a fete on Egerton Park, the day of the Coronation Concert.
Highlights include a Caledonian Pipe Band an local singer Will Edgar, who performed for King Charles III when he visited Bolton to celebrate the 150th year of the Town Hall.
There will also be a marquee, full bar and a youth play team.
Villagers in Belmont will be celebrating at The Moss with games, food and stalls.
And the Over Hulton residents will be celebrating and staging their very own Coronation Show on Bank Holiday Monday, May 8.
