Police raided a town centre property to discover a 'cannabis farm'.

Police found 2,500 plants at the property in Bradshawgate this morning and two arrests have been made.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis.

They remain in custody for questioning.

There were a number of police in the town centre today.

A worker said they also spotted police walking around Bolton town centre at lunch time.

She said: "I was walking through town on my lunch break and saw three officers near to Greggs, I then saw another four on Newport Street."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police in Bolton uncovered a suspected cannabis farm in Bolton today.

"Officers attended the address on Bradshawgate at around 9:45am today and discovered around 2,500 plants.

“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and remain in police custody for questioning.

"Members of the public should report suspicious activity to the police concerning around drugs and drug dealing.

A number of cannabis plants have been discovered in Bolton town centre.

A cannabis farm was found at the former Williams BMW premises on Bradshawgate in 2021 when plants worth £1m were discovered.

In November last year a cannabis farm was discovered in Bolton town centre after police were called to a suspected burglary.

It was the fourth major cannabis farm found in the town centre.

More than 300 plants were found growing in the basement of premises on Deansgate.

In January 2021 police located a cannabis farm producing drugs that had an estimated street value of half-a-million pounds, in an abandoned bank on Wood Street.

It came as a result of information officers received from the public.

Officers found around 900 plants weighing around 252 kilos spread across six rooms.

Farms were uncovered at the former Late Club and Bar Ice in Bank Street in 2014 and in 2021 and one at an old bank in the town centre.
