Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Martyn Cox, has welcomed the announcement that 1,280 extra police officers have been recruited in Greater Manchester since September 2019, bringing the total number of officers up to 8,067.
Cllr Martyn Cox, said:“From working with our local police force, I know just how valuable 1,280 more police officers will be in helping crack down on crime in our local community.
“These recruits mean there are now 8,067 police officers in Greater Manchester and more police officers than ever before across the country, helping to pursue criminals and tackle anti-social behaviour, keeping neighbourhoods safe for the law-abiding majority."
A £17.2 billion policing budget for 2023–2024 has been drawn up.
The Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy is being backed by £100 million in funding to make streets and neighbourhoods safer for women and girls.
A radical shake-up in policing is taking place in Bolton, with a back-to-basics approach.
As part of the new Neighbourhood Policing Model, a new alert system has been launched which allows residents to sign up to for information regarding issues in their local area, on-going incidents as well as accessing a range of crime prevention advice too, 24 hours a day.
