Officials are warning people to remain vigilant after reports of fake TV licensing emails.
Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime has received 3,455 reports in two weeks relating to fake email purporting to be from TV Licensing.
According to the centre, the emails state that the recipients TV License is about to expire, or that there was an issue with their latest payment.
The links provided in the email lead to genuine-looking websites that are designed to steal personal and financial information.

A spokesperson for Action Fraud said: “If you have any doubts about a message, contact the organisation directly.
“Don’t use the numbers of address in the message, use the details from their official website.
“Your bank will never ask you to supply personal information via email.”
