Concerns have been raised about a “hump” in one of Bolton’s most significant roads after recent repairs.
This comes after repair work finished on Chorley New Road, which needed to be restored, just last week.
But people travelling along the road through the Heaton and Markland Hill area have reported cars “bouncing” and a “hump” disturbing their journeys.
Resident Henry Lisowski said: “Anyone travelling at 40mph, if you have something in the back of your car it will get damaged, I’m sure bus drivers are having trouble with passengers.
"I was travelling along it on Friday and I thought ‘blimey its like you’re taking off.’”
Chorley New Road is one of the borough’s most significant arteries, going from the western edge of the town centre through Middlebrook and onto Horwich.
It is also used for major events in Bolton’s calendar including the annual Ironman festival.
Mr Lisowski is one of many people who uses the road on an almost daily basis and says he watched the previous repair work with interest before being dispointed with the outcome.
He said: “I saw them out at night in the rain, repairing those potholes.”
He has supplied photographs he had taken of the stretch of Chorley New Road where he says drivers have been alarmed to find themselves bouncing.
Mr Lisowski said: “The photographs don’t really do it justice to be honest, its when you’re driving over it that you really feel it.”

He added: “It’s a 40mph zone so when you hit that you’re jumping up and down.”
In response, Cllr Andy Morgan, who represents the Heaton and Lostock area on Bolton Council, says he is looking into the matter and hopes to find out from the authority’s highways department what the situation is and what may need to be done about it.
He said: “The issue has been raised with me and I’ve now raised it with highways to see if its been repaired to the required standards.
“And if it’s not been repaired to our standards then we will be bringing in contractors again to make sure that it will be.”
