Celebrations are set to take place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.
To help local residents and community groups commemorate this occasion, Bolton Council has offered free road closures to those who wish to hold their own Coronation Big Lunches and street parties, like the ones held in 1953 to celebrate the last Coronation.
Thorns Road will be having a wooden spoon race, children’s fancy dress and a singalong during their street party on May 6, the day of the Coronation.
On the same day, Elm Grove in Bromley Cross will be celebrating with music, dancing, karaoke and a craft table.
Organiser, Hazel Whiteside-Smith said: “There will also be street art prizes and trophy’s donated by local businesses and public.
“Also a name the teddy and tombola stall with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
“We will be showing the actual coronation on a fairly big screen so nobody needs to miss this historic event.”
Celebrations will spill over to Sunday.
Among the parties taking place include a fete on Egerton Park on May 7, the day of the Coronation Concert.
Highlights include a Caledonian Pipe Band an local singer Will Edgar, who performed for King Charles III when he visited Bolton to celebrate the 150th year of the Town Hall.
Cllr Samantha Jayne-Connor who helped organise the event reported there will also be a marquee, full bar and a youth play team.
Villagers in Belmont will be celebrating on Sunday, May 7 at The Moss with games, food and stalls.
And the Over Hulton residents will be celebrating on May 7 and staging their very own Coronation Show on Bank Holiday Monday, May 8.
That will take place from 10am to 6pm across a variety of venues around Over Hulton.
There will be a dog show, children's craft event, village show and lots more. There will also be a competition running the week before for the "best decorated frontage".
Over Hulton Community Group Chairman Steve Milnes said: "We’ve got a BBQ going on, we’ve got local residents involved on the street, some of them elderly residents.
“Catering to around 90 to 100 people, we did one for the jubilee.
“I think for our community it’s about the community spirit, the Platinum Jubilee brought a lot of residents together, we’ve got a local resident’s WhatsApp group, so it looks after everybody in our locality, the elderly residents who live on their own feel very connected to everybody.
“It’s certainly bringing a lot more community spirit into our area.”
Celebrations will start early in Halliwell when more than 60 people will be attending a party on May 4 organised by Halliwell Befriending Service and High Hopes for Halliwellbeing.
A buffet and selection of games will be on offer.
Community Development Worker Sharon Bolus said: “We want to do a massive shout out to our wonderful volunteer, Jessie Brewer.
“She has knitted King Charles ready for his coronation, he is keeping the tea warm and even comes with a teapot.
“He will be raffled on the day to a lucky winner.”
Bolton’s Library and Museum Lecture Theatre will be screening the event live along with a silent disco and Coronation themed arts and craft activities.
Sue Johnson, Chief Executive of Bolton Council said: “The Coronation will be a unique piece of British history and I urge everyone to take part and celebrate with their local community.”
