Less than two weeks until the King's coronation and Bolton is already gearing up for what is set to be an historic May Bank Holiday weekend.

Across the constituency decorations have already cropped up, showcasing Bolton's natural immense pride for civic events and highlighting our sense of togetherness and community.

Bolton Council has granted 28 road closures for residents to host street parties, bringing our different neighbourhoods together.

On Saturday, the coronation will be televised live, so gather with friends and family to watch or head to Bolton Library and Museum Lecture Theatre where there will be a free screening.

On Sunday, the Nation will host the Big Lunch. Designed to bring people together to celebrate the Coronation, share friendship, food, and fun.

You might feast on the classic Coronation chicken or why not try the new recipe announced this year by the Royal Household?

The Kings Coronation quiche is a vegetarian option using seasonal greens.

On Monday, its Bolton’s Big Help Out up and down the country other towns and villages will also be taking part.

The day aims to raise awareness of the great work our voluntary services provide in our local communities.

In Victoria Square, where only months ago, the King arrived with the Queen Consort to a warm welcome from local leaders, volunteers and community groups, there will be a Volunteers Market from 11am to 2pm, where you can find out more about local charities in Bolton as well as live music and performances.

However we chose to celebrate this momentous occasion, I know we'll do it with a signature Boltonian flair.
