A Bolton man described as a “well liked person” died at the age of 40.
Chris Lomax was found deceased in the room of the property he had been staying in on Manchester Road in December last year.
An inquest into his death took place at the Bolton Coroners Court this week.
The court heard from Winifred Lomax, the mother of the deceased.
She said he had been diagnosed with ADHD and dyspraxia at the age of 15 and described his lifestyle as chaotic.
And added he had problems with his mental health and was a drug user.
In a statement she said: “Chris was a well liked person who would say he was easily led.
“As a family we have no concerns about the treatment and care offered to Chris.”
The court heard Mr Lomax had been staying at a hotel which was paid for by Bolton Council and the landlord went into find him on Monday, November 22.
Police identified no third party involvement in the death.
Pathologist Ravindra Sawant said he could find initially find nothing internally or externally to point to the cause of death.
But he said after sending blood and urine samples showed high levels of multiple drugs including heroin and cocaine.
He said: “Drug toxicity is the highly probably cause.”
Simone Livaitis was working as an NHS professional social worker with Greater Manchester Mental Health worker and had been sent to work with Chris shortly before his death.
She said he did not attend appointments which were arranged for him but she had met him twice where he was staying and was beginning to form a connection.
Ms Livaitis was asked whether there was anything more she of her organisation could have done to prevent the death and said: “No.”
Ms Lomax said: “Thank you for trying” after hearing her evidence.
Coroner Simon Nelson concluded it was a drug related death.
He said that before 2013 he would have reached a conclusion of misadventure, but now the government wanted drugs related deaths recorded officially so they know how bad the problems with substance abuse is.
He said to the family: “My conclusion is that the death was drug related.”
I hope you can reflect on the good times and time times you have had with Chris.”
