A police investigation has opened after a vehicle was reported as stolen in Little Lever on Monday.

A Crime Scene Investigation van and a police car were seen at Hill Top, Little Lever, at around 6pm on Monday April 17.

Police have now confirmed that they attended after a vehicle was reported as stolen, and that they managed to locate it.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “Police were called after someone reported their car as stolen, which took us to the end of Hill Top.

“We located it, and the investigation is still ongoing.”

The Bolton News:

Cllr Sean Hornby, who represents Little Lever on Bolton Council, previously said that he had been contacted by a number of residents who were concerned as to what was going on.

He said: “It’s nothing too serious, but there was still a crime committed, and a vehicle was stolen.”

There were no cordons in place and GMP previously assured the public that they were not aware of any serious incidents in the area during that evening.

Greater Manchester Police have explained that CSI units can be called out for a wide variety of reasons related to their investigations even if an ongoing incident or emergency is not underway at the time.

A small group of officers had left the scene on Hill Top by shortly after 7pm, not long after they had first been called out.

Anyone with any concerns or any further information about this or any other suspected incidents in their areas can contact police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
