Sources told The Bolton News that McGregor should be back filming at the Victoria Hall from Monday to Wednesday next week.
Bolton is being used as ‘key scenes’ in the series.
Scaffolding is currently being put up at Victoria Hall today in preparation for filming.
Victoria Hall has been used to film Songs of Praise on a number of occasions.
The building, Grade II listed, opened in 1900.
This is the second time the celebrity will be seen filming at Victoria Hall, after he was spotted in early March filming in the premises.
He was also spotted outside the steps of the town hall, where the area around the town hall was blanketed in snow.
Based on a 2016 novel by Amor Towles and set at the time of the Russian Revolution, around 100 years ago, A Gentleman in Moscow tracks aristocrat Alexander Rostov after he is spared execution but sent to the Hotel Metropol under house arrest.
McGregor is understood to be a replacement for Kenneth Branagh, who was in the role initially.
McGregor said: "It is an amazing, wonderful story and I am excited to play such a fabulous role."
