A primary school has turned around its fortunes to be classed as a good school where pupils are ‘proud and happy to attend’.
Tonge Moor Primary Academy opened in November 2018, on the site of the now closed Tonge Moor Primary School, which was put into special measures by Ofsted for its poor standards.
The new school has been rated good in all areas.
Ofsted stated: “Pupils, including children in the early years, are proud and happy to attend Tonge Moor Primary Academy. They arrive each day keen to get their learning underway.”
Pupils were said to behave well and that children are “achieving better across a range of subjects”.
Ofsted inspectors reported: “Pupils value the extra opportunities that they get to help other people in their local community.”
They added: “Leaders have designed an effective programme of wider personal development.”
Trustees, leaders, governors and staff were said to form a united team. Staff morale was described as high across the school.
Ofsted reported: "Trustees, governors and leaders know what the school does well. They work effectively to improve the quality of education for pupils. Staff report that trustees, governors and leaders consider their workload and well-being."
Headteacher Nicola Whittaker said she was proud of what the school had achieved.
She said: “I am so proud of the school improvement journey and what has achieved since academisation in November 2018 and my appointment as headteacher in September 2019.
“This also includes continued improvement even during Covid closures.
“We are fortunate to have a dedicated and highly skilled team at Tonge Moor Primary Academy and within the wider trust.
“Our staff team work so hard to provide the best education that our children truly deserve to prepare them well for successful futures.
“We continue to develop and ensure that Tonge Moor Primary Academy is a place where children are inspired by a love of learning and motivated to achieve their dreams.”
