A man has been arrested after police found a “large bow knife” in what appeared to be his vehicle.
The knife was found in a vehicle that officers say they spotted outside the guided busway in Tyldesley on Sunday evening.
Officers say that the driver was arrested and is set to be charged.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The vehicle was spotted lurking outside the guided busway in Tyldesley by GMP Transport Unit officer tonight.
“The driver was found to be in possession of a large bow knife.
“Suffice to say he’s in custody, awaiting charge.”
This comes amid long running concerns about knife crime and its potentially deadly affects all across the Greater Manchester city region over recent months and years.
Police officers have spoken out repeatedly about the dangers of carrying knives while Bolton in particular has seen several recent high profile cases of knife crime in recent times in various locations across the borough.
Anyone concerned about knife crime or other potentially violent offences in their communities or about any other kinds of anti-social behaviour can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
