The Prime Minister made an appearance in Greater Manchester today, with Bury Market on the list.
The heaving market goers swarmed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as he made his way outside the fish and meat market.
The PM posed for selfies as he spoke to stall-holders at the market and smiled at cameras.
Many people were unaware that the PM Mr Sunak was due in Bury and the Conservative Party said the visit had been cut short.
Pictures emerged on the website Flickr taken by a Tory photographer of the PM with various people in Bury smiling and standing with the locals.
Shortly after, the PM made a swift exit and left for Rochdale.
The PM has been to Bury before for his last leadership election, seeing people in Gigg Lane to persuade people to vote for him at the time.
During his time in Bury, Mr Sunak met with Bury North MP James Daly to talk about how Gigg Lane “meets the needs of the town.”
Rishi Sunak said: “Whoever is elected to become the next Prime Minister will have to deal with the challenges immediately facing this country including rising energy bills and high inflation.
“We need someone who is going to be honest, show leadership, grip inflation and help people with their energy bills, including families in Bury.
“I want to thank Conservative members from Bury, Bolton and Manchester for coming to meet me at Bury FC this week to hear about my plan for the future.
“Together we will rebuild the economy, unite the country and win the next election.”
The PM also famously confused Bury with Burnley in a speech, when he said it was the 'world-famous Burnley market' during an interview with BBC Breakfast.
Elections will take place on May 4.
