The team behind a successful Bolton pub and restaurant are on the move after 30 years at the helm.
Tavern Fayre in Hunger Hill is set to close, with new managers moving in.
The pub and restaurant has been under its current management since it opened in the late 1980s.
The current bosses are unsure when it will close at this point.
It started life as The Tavern pub, which served as a pub and nightspot during the 80s and 90s, with dancefloors, DJs and bouncers.
Then in the late 90s it was transformed into the restaurant it is now, becoming Tavern Fayre.
However, it has now been sold to new management, the restaurant’s current management have confirmed.
Assistant Manager at Tavern Fayre, Phil Briercliffe, has worked there for 22 years.
He said: “We have been up for sale for four to five months and have now been sold.
“It will be closing down when we hand it over to the new people, who are going to be doing a refurbishment and then reopening.
“I’m not sure what it will be reopening as. I would assume it will be kept on as a restaurant.”
Phil continued: “I’ve been here for 22 years and my boss has been here pretty much since it opened 35 years ago.
“We’ve not made any announcements with an official closing date, but we will be announcing it on social media.
“We have been speaking to regular customers and giving them a heads up that we will be closing.
“We’ve got customers who have been coming since before I started, I’ve been here since 2001.”
He added: “We’ve got a good loyal regular customer base, it’s generally packed out every lunchtime.
“A lot of customers you can set your watch by.
“It first opened in the 80s as a pub, a lot of people knew it as the ‘tavern on the hill’.
“Every weekend it was packed out, it had bouncers, a dancefloor and DJs. I was a bit young for it but I remember my brother going there and enjoying it.
“It changed into a restaurant in the late 90s.”
