Two people were taken to hospital after a crash in Lostock this morning, Tuesday.

Emergency services including an air ambulance were sent to Chorley New Road following the crash near Bolton Golf Club shortly after 10am.

Two people were treated by paramedics and taken to hospital following the incident between Ox Hey Lane and Links Road.

A man said to be in his 40s, was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with leg and pelvic injuries.

Another patient, whose age and gender have not been published, was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.

A spokesperson from the North West Ambulance Service said: "We took a call at 10.12am today to reports of a road traffic collision on Chorley New Road.

"We sent an ambulance and air ambulance to scene and we treated two patients.

"One male in his 40s with leg and pelvic injuries was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary and the other patient was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital."

The road has been closed for several hours with diversions set up for motorists.

An employee at Hedgehogs Woodland Adventures said: "I was running a holiday club session in the little bit of woods off Bolton Golf Course when I heard a bit of a bang and saw the big crash. 

"Then I rang the fire and ambulance services. There were two helicopters, it looked a bit more serious. 

"I looked over the fence as it happened, he was trapped in his drivers seat, two guys and a cyclist stopped to help and try to get him out. 

"I got a foil blanket from our first aid kit and threw it over the fence."

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for more information.
