Amir Khan has raised more than £1million for Turkey and Syria following the devastating earthquakes with private Iftar events around the UK.
With a series of Iftar dinners, Amir and those attending raised £300,000 at one event and £750,000 at another for Turkey and Syria over the bank holiday weekend.
The Iftar events are Ramadan dinners where Muslims break their fasts at sunset.
The events have been taking place around London as the Bolton boxer raises vital awareness around the impact of the earthquakes on the people living in Turkey and Syria.
Amir wrote on his Instagram: The penultimate iftar with Amir Khan Foundation for #ramadan2023 at @tipusultangroup last night.
“Birmingham, you were, just under £300k in a matter of minutes for our Turkey-Syria appeal.
“Final iftar tonight in Uxbridge. Stay tuned.”
On a second post he wrote: “I hosted my friends in London for Iftar last night. Coming together and auctioning memorabilia for Amir Khan Foundation.”
More money was raised in Uxbridge, with just under £750,000 being made in one night alone.
Amir said: “Thank you to our amazing team and all of the contributors who helped us raise just under £750,000 in just a few days. @amirkhanfoundation.”
Thousands of people were left homeless after the earthquake hit, and the Amir Khan Academy vowed to raise as much as possible to help all the families suffering.
The events took place on the bank holiday weekend.
