Visitors can win themselves a free ice cream in return for ‘Easter rocks’ placed around farm in Bolton.
This bank holiday weekend, Milk Maids in Deardens Farm, Over Hulton, will be hiding colourful hand-painted rocks for children to find.
Each time one is found, it can be exchanged for free ice cream.
Milk Maids will post clues on the rocks to their Facebook page, telling people in what area the stone may be.
The first stone has already been posted and there are 30 to be found across the weekend and until they are all found.
Fiona Partington of the Milk Maids, said: “I just thought it would be nice to do because it can be hard to get children out of the house.
“They do not always want to walk, so if they have an incentive, they might like it, and they get free ice cream.”
The stones were hand-painted by Fiona’s niece and nephew and some of them offer an educational tip too.
Fiona said: “It’s just something for them to do.
“I put the first stone between some bales with a post on what the bales are, because during Covid, some young people set fire to our bales and it spread to the barn.
“I think if they knew the consequences, they might not do that.”
On a Facebook post already up, Fiona encouraged people to take their children out for a walk to find a stone.
The post stated: “So here is our first *Easter Rocks*.
“My niece and nephew have lovingly painted some stones and over the course of the Easter break, I’ll be posting some clues on the grid to where they are, if you find them you get one free ice cream one per stone!
“So grab the kiddies and get walking.
“Our first has a little story behind it, these black things that surround me- they’re valuable to the farmer nearby, they feed the cows through the winter when the grass is too wet to get the cows onto.
“How soon will you find me? I’m in quite an open space and I’m not that far away from Milk Maids.”
