Blackedge Brewing Company pick up four awards at SIBA

The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) held its Independent Beer Awards 2023 on March 15 in Liverpool.

Horwich brewery Blackedge Brewing Company won four awards at the ceremony: a Gold for their ‘West Coast’ in the Cask British Bitter category, a Silver for ‘India’ in the Cask IPA category, a Bronze for ‘Blonde’ in the Cask British Best Bitter category and a Bronze for ‘Schwarze Kante’ in the Keg Wheat Beer category.

The awards took place at SIBA’s annual BeerX event, which is a large beer and brewing trade event, with a trade show, regional beer bars and a trade-only beer festival, as well as seminars, talks and panel debates.

Wayne Roper, Managing Director at Blackedge Brewing Company, said: “It feels amazing to be recognised by our industry peers at this year’s National SIBA Awards in Liverpool. BeerX is always an enjoyable event and this year’s was no exception.

“The brewery team always strive to make the best beers we can and to have been awarded for four of these amongst such a competitive market is a huge achievement.

This comes after Blackedge pubs came first and second in the CAMRA Real Ale Pub of the Year for Bolton.

The Brewery Bar in Horwich, based at the brewery itself, won the award, and The Brewery Tap in Westhoughton came second.

Blackedge also previously won an award for being the best independent craft brewery at the SIBA North West Independent Beer Awards in 2018.

SIBA was established in 1980 to represent the interests of the growing number of independent breweries in Britain.
