People making the annual pilgrimage to Rivington on Good Friday can step into one of Bolton's most recognised and intriguing landmarks.
Hundreds of people take part in the traditional hike up Rivington Pike and tomorrow the visitors can enter the Pigeon Tower, the he looming structure in Rivington Terraced Gardens - for a donation.
Rivington Heritage Trust is opening up the historic tower to raise funds for the restoration of the Terraced Gardens.
A spokesman said: "If you're heading up to the Pike on Good Friday, come and say hello!
"We'll be opening up the Pigeon Tower between 10am and 3pm and you'll be able to see inside for a donation.
"We desperately need to raise funds for the ongoing restoration and maintenance of the Gardens, and so every £ helps
"We accept cash or card/contactless."
The Easter walk started back last year after the Covid pandemic with hundreds turning up.
Last there were fairground attractions and refreshments en route.
The Pigeon Tower, which had been shut for for decades, is now open the first weekend of the month thanks to a multi-million investment to restore the gardens, which over the years had become overgrown and neglected.
But is being opened especially for Good Friday walkers
