A WAREHOUSE close to Bolton town centre could be turned into a swingers club.
The club, which would be for members only, is proposed to open in warehousing space at the well-established Dave’s Angling Superstore – known as Dave’s Aquarium – on Folds Road.
It will include a bar area, a sauna, message room, play area and a “dungeon”.
Owner Peter Hemingway said: “What we’re finding is we’re slowly getting more and more acceptance.”
He added: “I have experience of this, I have another swingers club, so I have experience of running establishments like these.
“If you’re a couple then as long as you bring ID with you can join on the door but it’s a different process for single gentlemen.
“In their cases they will need to go through a process of registering online.”
Mr Hemingway has confirmed that no alcohol will be served at the bar, which will sell soft drinks, but members can bring their own drinks if they wish.
He also hopes that the club, the name of which Mr Hemingway is yet to decide, will prove to be an inclusive environment for LGBT people and members of the trans community.
For Mr Hemingway, his experience of running Pandora’s Swingers Club in Leeds has allowed him to see how important venues like these can become to attendees.
He said: “For many of our members they’d often have no other place to go for this kind of thing.”
Mr Hemingway explained that his Leeds club was one of very few in the north of England and that he hopes the new Bolton venue will attract members from all over Greater Manchester and elsewhere in the North West.
If planning permission is granted, Mr Hemmingway estimates that the building process will take around a year.

But regular customers at Dave’s Angling Superstore need not be worried, with Mr Hemingway planning to keep the popular business operating as normal.
Again, he says he can draw on personal experience with his Leeds swingers club also found right next to a similar angling store.
The plans were put before Bolton Council towards the end of March and will be open for consultations until Monday, April 24.
Bolton Council will decide on whether or not to approve the plans at a later date.
