Hills Funfair returned to Bolton this weekend, and we decided to head down and see what £10 can get you.

A Bolton institution, the Hills family have been running the fairs since 1901, making this their 122nd year.

The fair returned to Queen’s Park, where it has set up for 60 years, from Saturday, April 1, through to Tuesday, April 4.

Although he is the ex-owner of the business, Henry Hill can still be seen helping around the fair.

Speaking to The Bolton News on Sunday, he said: “This here has been a funfair for 60 years.

“It hasn’t been a bad turnout, it wasn’t a bad turnout on Saturday either, the weather has been nice.

“It was my granddad Albert Hill, who was from Bolton, who started working here, and now we own it. We own more rides than anyone else in the North West.

“This isn’t a full fair because the field was soft and we didn’t want to damage the field. But now when we come back, we should have the full fair.”

Tanya Taylor, a mother at the fair, said: “We’re really enjoying it, they’ve just done the trampoline and did the swinging one before.

“We’ve been to fairs a few times. It’s perfect for the Easter holidays.”

Her son, Jude Jones, five, added: “The trampoline is my favourite in the whole wide world! I love it because I can jump so high and I love going high.

What £10 gets you at the fair

A special offer of eight rides for £10 is currently available at the fair- half the usual price.
