One of Bolton's long established hotels has unveiled its wedding packages.
The Georgian House Hotel in Blackrod, part of the Mercure Group, is taking bookings for its newly revamped venue with themes ranging from festivals, designed by Rebecca Karen to winter wonderland, by Donna Kelly and rustic, by Stacey Dunlop of Bowlicious.
General Manager David Longcake, who took up the role last November, says this is all part of ongoing efforts to raise the Blackrod Hotel’s profile not just in Bolton but all across the region and beyond.
Mr Longcake said: “We’ve got people who are new, some people who have been here for years, like Irene who's been with us 34 years and still gets the most postive responses, but the thing is, everyone is passionate.
“For me, even if someone’s not been involved in weddings before, that can be a positive because they come to it with new ideas and they’re not bringing bad habits with them.”
Mr Longcake explained that the new themes have already won plaudits from the public, as shown by a steadily improving TripAdviser score and by feedback from guests.
Driving many of the changes has been weddings and events manager Rochelle Jeffrey, who joined last year.
She said: “With weddings, its not just one size fits all, it has to be unique, it has to be personal.”
She added: “Our tagline now is, when it comes to weddings the only way is yours and we’ve managed to show that.
“We have a great team, I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without them.”
Ms Jeffrey explained that the efforts she and the team were making were all about making sure people in Bolton and further afield were aware of what is waiting for them, right on their doorsteps in some cases.
She said: “We’re here and we’re going to be the best.”
One of the most important members of that team has been head chef Keaton McClure, who Mr Longcake described as showing real “delight” in preparing his range of unique dishes.
Mr McClure said: “It’s like sometimes I’ll wake up in the middle of the night with an idea for a dish and I’ll need to write it down and then if I’m off the next day I’ll need to go out and get the ingredients.”
He added: “For me to be honest, its just about doing what I love to do, just give me the right ingredients and I’ll go out and do it.
“I don’t like things to be repetitive, I like them to be bespoke.
“I like people to be able to come in for weddings and know everything is going to be different.”

As well as the themed weddings, the new management team is also hosting a series of nights themed around 70s, 80s and 90s culture as well as special Northern Soul nights.
Guest will also be able to enjoy a swimming pool, gym, salon and the hotel's well-stocked bar.
Nights like these will be entertained by DJ sets organised by Martin Hart of Purple Rose Media Ltd.
Weddings will also have a series of catering options available with American, English, Chinese themes and more.
And together, they hope this is just the beginning for a newly reinvigorated hotel.
Mr McClure said: "For many years, the Georgian House has been like a seed and now we're starting to see it grow."
