Police carried out speedgun checks on one of roads in Bolton most plagued by speeding and other kinds of anti-social driving.
The operation was carried out on Friday by officer’s from GMP Bolton’s town centre neighbourhood team on Plodder Lane, Farnworth.
The road has long been known for the frequency of accidents and near misses often reported by nearby residents.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “As part of the week of action, the town centre neighbourhood team completed a speed gun operation on Plodder Lane.
“Please watch your speed and stick to the speed limit.
“This will reduce serious incidents on the roads.”
Officers have stressed that in the most extreme cases speeding can seriously injure or even kill drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
Complaints about anti-social behaviour and crime on the roads from residents across Bolton have ranged from speeding to drink or drug driving to driving without licences or insurance in recent times.
These have also proven to be recurring issues across the Greater Manchester city region, prompting a response like that seen from GMP this week.
Anyone with any concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
