WE hope some of these smiling faces in this photo can tell us more about their new Brownie pack.
The image of the little girls was taken back in June 1980.
It shows Jane Pilkington, aged seven, of High Street Belmont, taking the”promise” oath in a ceremony to mark the formation of the new Brownie Pack at St Peter’s Belmont.
The ceremony was conducted by Mrs Irene Bickerton who was the district commissioner of the Bolton-le-Moors Division.
Also in the picture is the group’s Brown Owl, Mrs Helen Bell.
The toadstool was always part of the Brownie enrolment ceremony and the girls would jump over it to enter the pack.
We would love to hear your Brownie memories for a feature in our Looking Back section of the paper so why not email robert.kelly@nqnw.co.uk.
