A building which used to house a shop in Radcliffe has partially collapsed with the road sealed off to allow works to take place.
Emergency services arrived just before 10pm on Sunday at Stand Lane at the junction of Radcliffe Road just before Pilkington Way after reports of an unstable building.
The part of the building that has collapsed is at a disused shop next to the derelict Wellington pub, which has been closed for some time.
The collapse of the disused shop was also the subject of a fire in 2021.
It is unclear why the property has collapsed at present and no injuries have been reported.
A cordon remains in place on Stand Lane at the junction of Radcliffe Road and the junction of Church Street West/Stand Lane.
This section of the road is expected to be closed in both directions for the next few days to allow work to take place.
A Bury Council spokesperson said: "Stand Lane at the junction of Radcliffe Road is closed, and the junction of Church Street West/Stand Lane is closed in both directions due to debris in the road.
"Diversions have been implemented, and the road is expected to be closed for the next few days."
Two fire engines from Whitefield and Bury Central were called and crews used a thermal imaging camera to make the area safe.
Whitefield fire station watch manager Paul Ratcliffe said: "We attended and cordoned off the area and made it safe about 9.30pm last night (Sunday) until 1.30am.
"It happened right on the corner of Pilkington Way, where the old pub was."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: “Just before 10pm last night (Sunday), two fire engines from Whitefield and Bury central fire station were called to reports of a building collapse on Stand Lane, Radcliffe.
“Crews arrived quickly at scene.
"Firefighters used cordons and a thermal imaging camera to make the area safe.
“Firefighters were in attendance for around two and a half hours.”
Greater Manchester Police were also called to secure the area.
