A bid has been put forward to set up a extend a private hire business in Bolton.
The application, made to Bolton Council this week, seeks to convert a property on Bridgeman Street, Bolton into a newly expanded hire business for up to five cars.
If approved, the home will be used as a centre for the five vehicles that will be used to help take children with special and additional needs to school and back again.
A statement from the applicant said: “I have a certificate of lawfulness for over 10 years.
“I am a law obeying citizen I have had no complaints to licensing department and I have been a private hire driver for 25 years.
“I transport special needs children to school and back.
“I have been doing this with contract work with Bolton Council since I had my license so I have an established relationship with the council.
“By increasing to five vehicles it would provide extra jobs in the local community as I will be tendering for more contracts with the council.
“No customer will attend premises nor will any parking be required as all bookings will be by telephone/online bookings.”
The plans were put before Bolton Council on Thursday March 14 this year and will be open for assessment by officials until Thursday May 11.
During this time council planning officers will assess the suitability of the location for the newly extended private hire business to ensure that it fits with the surrounding area and that it can accommodate the needs of the vehicles.

None of the other properties in the area on the road will be affected by the change of use of the house set out in the planning document.
No further parking places will be needed, meaning that other residents will be able to continue using the same places as before.
If approved this will join a thriving private hire industry that operates all across Bolton for both private customers and to help facilitate council services.
Bolton Council will announce whether or not it has approved the plan at a later date.
