Five Bolton pubs have installed defibrillators in a bid to provide emergency support when it is needed.
The Keg and Thread and The Lord Raglan, both on Halliwell Road, The Lamb Hotel on Blackburn Road, the Church Inn on Wigan Road, and the Town Hall Tavern on Victoria Square are part of the Proper Pubs franchise, which have had defibrillators fitted to their properties.
The defibrillators are all positioned outside the pub for use in medical emergencies, sending an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat with someone is in cardiac arrest.
Director Mark Brooke said: “We have always been champions of the community pub.
“As the cost of living continues to rise, it has been recognised that pubs aren’t just somewhere for people to go for a drink, they are also vital lifelines for the community, bringing people together to support each other.”
Proper Pubs is a community led division of Admiral Taverns and has 165 community pubs across England, Scotland, and Wales.
Each pub was tasked to raise £1,500 within its community to fund the defibrillators.
Pubs became extensively creative in their fundraising, holding raffle nights to sponsored head shaving.
Annual events for all pubs also includes Easter Egg donations, Christmas selection boxes and live music events.
