A property development company has been thanked by staff at a Bromley Cross school for helping them celebrate World Book Day earlier this month.
Jones Homes donated £155 to pay for £5 book tokens for each of the 31 pupils in Year 5 at St John the Evangelist RC Primary School on Darwen Road.
Headteacher Lesley Jackson thanked the company.
She said: “Reading plays a vital role in children being able to access the whole of the curriculum, as well as helping to nurture empathy and imagination.
“This donation will help the pupils continue to develop their reading skills – and enjoy new stories.”
Jones Homes is building 57 new homes at The Grange at Last Drop Village, less than half a mile from the school, and want to form "meaningful relationships within the local community".
Sales director at Jones Homes North West, Simon Whalley, said: “We hope that the vouchers we have given will help the children buy a new book and be transported by the written word.”
