Amir Khan has donated signed memorabilia to a Turkey fundraising event which is taking place at a cricket club this weekend.

The Bolton retired boxer kindly sent signed boxing gloves and clothes to be entered into a raffle at a Turkey and Syria fundraiser following the earthquakes, which led to the death of more than 50,000 people.

Deane and Derby Cricket Club is set to host the event on Saturday, March 11, organised by legal student Zahra Al-Falouji.

Along with Amir’s donation, his wife Faryal Makhdoom's business partner and best friend, Khadija Naz  also donated from Faryal's recent makeup line.

Bolton-born former England cricketer Saj Mahmood has donated a signed bat to the fundraiser too.

Zahra said: “The devastation caused by the earthquakes is heartbreaking to see and I believe that it is important to always try and help anyone that you can.

“I knew how desperate the need for aid is, which was is why I decided to arrange the fundraiser to provide as much as we can.

“Amir Khan is part of our local community and was kind enough to sign some boxing gloves and clothes to be entered into the raffle.”

The Bolton News:

Guests can enjoy a barbecue at the centre along with a henna stall, rides outside for children, a bouncy castle, hair styling and so many other fun stalls.

Zahra said: “The support has been incredible.

“The food for the barbecue has all been donated by Barakat and Koolio’s as well as various other small businesses contributing to the food.

“The very popular Mr Tee has gone out of his way to show his support and will be attending the event selling his ice cream.

“I have also been sponsored by some amazing businesses such as Salscuisine, Elbowhearts and General Traffic to name a few.”

The event is set to run from 12pm to 7pm.
